Abstract

1348436 Colour comparators WIKOFF COLOUR CORP 29 Sept 1971 [29 Sept 1970] 45440/71 Heading G2J In a process for formulating an ink capable of reproducing a sample of an unknown colour, the sample 50 of unknown colour and a sample 52 of an ink of known colour are placed in juxtaposition, one or more transparent filters 32a-d - 37a-d of differing colours which are reproducible by a known ink are selectively positioned above the known ink 52 until the colour of the unknown ink 50 is duplicated when the known ink 52 is viewed through the selected filters and the known inks indicated by the known sample 52 and selected filters are mixed. The samples are located in a box and a light source illuminates both samples to give a viewing area 30 which includes part of both samples. The filters are housed in a turret 26 and are pivoted between steps 44, 45 Fig. 3 so that the filters move into alignment, or out of alignment with the known ink sample only. Six colours 32- 37 are provided there being four shades A-D of each colour.
