Abstract

1347474 Electrically operated window CHRYSLER (UNITED KINGDOM) Ltd 19 April 1971 [6 April 1970] 16126/70 Heading E2M A safety device for an electrically operated window comprises two elongated contacts 25, 29 extending along the upper part of the frame. The contact 25 is part of aluminium section 22 which is mounted on the inside flange 23 of the window frame, the central spigot 25 projects below the level of channel 21 which receives the window glass. A U- shaped rubber channel 27 is housed in slots 26 in the section 22, and trapped in the slots by beads 28 formed on the side walls. A brass strip 29 rests in the bottom of the channel and usually spaced from the spigot 25. If a body becomes trapped above the window glass as the window is closing, the body lifts channel 27 until the brass strip 29 engages the spigot, which energises a relay thus opening a switch which cuts off the current to the electric motor.
