Abstract

1347293 Shovel excavators VYZKUMNY USTAV STAVEBNICH A ZEMNICH STROJU 25 May 1971 [28 May 1970] 17027/71 Heading E1F In a shovel excavator having a shovel 9 pivotally mounted on an arm 3 pivoted on a boom 1 there is provided a control system that regulates actuators 7, 8 between the boom and the arm and the arm and the shovel to ensure that the shovel will accurately form a linear face to an excavation. The system involves at least a linkage between the boom and the arm, said linkage involving a rotatable arm 5 that is maintained at a constant inclination to the cutting plane by being able to actuate a control distributor of fluid to the actuators 7, 8 to cause appropriate adjustment of the boom, arm and shovel to maintain the required inclination of the shovel as it is traverses the face of the excavation. Preferably a control system such as linkage 57, 63, 64, 65 and distributor 67 is associated with each of the actuators 7, 8. The rotatable lever of the or one of the control systems may be positioned at a desired reference inclination by a linkage 29-33 or some other motion transmission linkage connected to a pendulum on the chassis of the excavator.
