Abstract

1347279 Cooling systems for vehicle engines REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT 1 July 1971 [5 Aug 1970 27 Nov 1970] 30980/71 Heading F4U A cooling system for an I.C. engine comprises a glass expansion chamber 1 with a stopper 5 through which passes an inlet tube 2 having a high pressure relief valve 3 to vent steam to the atmosphere, and a low pressure safety valve 4 is fitted in the stopper to allow air to enter the chamber when the pressure falls below a predetermined value. The valve 3 may be fitted in the stopper with a by-pass tube within the chamber connecting it to tube 2. In a further form, the two valves may be arranged concentrically one within the other in the stopper.
