Abstract
1346855 Film transport EASTMAN KODAK CO 27 May 1971 [4 June 1970] 17635/71 Heading G2A The invention is concerned with a mechanism for sensing an indicator perforation in a film strip, which mechanism then terminates the film transport. The sensing member 6 is biased towards the film strip 5 by a spring 7, and lies against the surface of the film until it can enter a perforation 5a. Member 6 has inclined surfaces 6e, 6f which bear against similarly inclined guiding surfaces 9b, 9c of the camera housing 9, so that member 6 does not move normally to the film but at an angle thereto (direction A). A spring-loaded release lock 8 is pivotally mounted on member 6 by a pin 12. A plate 13 is attached to the housing, and carries a drive lever 3 mounted on it by means of a pivot 16. A lever 1 pivots in the direction C to wind on the film, and at the same time actuates a slide member 2 in the direction G to set the shutter. In the Fig. 1 position the film transport is unlocked, sensing member 6 is withdrawn from perforation 5a, and the shutter release 4 is still in its depressed position. When the spring-loaded member 4 is allowed to move upwards again, a step 8b of lock 8 moves under it, so preventing any further actuation of release 4. When the film is wound on by lever 1, lever 3 is pivoted anti-clockwise by slide 2 from the Fig. 1 position to the Fig. 2 position, in which one arm engages behind a hook 4a of release 4 and retains it. At the same time lever disengages from member 6, so allowing it to move towards the film, and hence the step 8b is disengaged from under release 4 owing to the oblique movement of member 6. As member 6 enters a film perforation, a tooth 6b comes into engagement with ratchet teeth 1a on lever 1, so locking it against further movement. When release member 4 is depressed to actuate the shutter blade 10, a bevelled portion 4b of member 4 engages lock 8, and hence member 6 is withdrawn from perforation 5a, tooth 6b at the same time disengaging from ratchet 1a. Hook 4a releases drive lever 3, which is spring-driven back to its Fig. 1 position.
