Abstract

1345288 Lighter-than-air craft A P PEDRICK 10 Oct 1972 39935/72 Heading B7W An aircraft is supported by one or more evacuated envelopes each comprising inner and outer shells, e.g. of nylon, Fig. 2 (not shown), with the space within the inner shell evacuated and the space between the shells pressurized, e.g. with helium or compressed air, a linkage being provided between the shells to prevent collapse of the inner shell. A plurality of spherical envelopes may be located in a manpowered structure, Figs. 5 to 7 (not shown), or in the fuselage or wings of power-driven aircraft, Figs. 10 to 20 (not shown).
