Abstract

1344820 Mining MINING DEVELOPMENTS AG 21 Dec 1970 [30 Dec 1969] 63237/69 Heading E1F A method of winning reef or vein type material deposits comprises the steps of cutting a first series of adjacent holes of substantially rectangular transverse section above or to one side of the reef or vein, cutting a second series of similar adjacent holes below or to the opposite side of the reef or vein, removing the intervening border of material between the adjacent holes of each series to form first and second slots, and thereafter removing the separated material deposits between the first and second slots. A drill bit 20 screw threaded on a drill rod 15 is used to produce the holes, the drill rod in use being impacted axially and oscillated through an angle not exceeding 22¢‹. A pilot bit 23 may or may not be provided on nose 22 of the drill bit 20, and the axis of the latter may be coaxial with, or off-set from, the axis of the drill rod. The intervening burden 28 may be removed by means of a manually, or power, hammered wedge 30.
