1344507 Photographic cameras EASTMAN KODAK CO 17 May 1971 [15 May 1970] 15254/71 Heading G2A In a camera of the type having a two-slide shutter, there is provided means for synchronizing shutter operation with the firing of a bulb of an inserted multi-lamp percussive flash unit. Insertion of a unit in the camera socket 17 pivots a lever 19 thereby allowing a firing member 5 to rise until it contacts the striker 6 of the bulb to be fired. This brings a pin 5a into the path of a driving lever 3, which is moved to the right (as seen) upon operation of a shutter release member (not shown). The lever 3 engages a shutter opening member 2 which is also moved to the right, thus uncovering the camera aperture 1 and tensioning a spring 7, Fig. 2, (not shown). A known electronic exposure timing unit will energize a magnet 8 thereby rotating an armature 9 and freeing a shutter closing member 10 to move to the right under action of the spring 7 Fig. 3, (not shown). During film advancing operation, the driving lever 3 is returned to its Fig. 1 position, thus returning the member 2, which carries with it the member 10. In another embodiment, Figs. 4-6, (not shown) the driving lever (3) is not connected to the opening member (2). An additional spring (11) is secured to a lug (2a) of the member (2) and to the camera housing. After the member (10) has closed the aperture (1), the additional spring (11) acts to return the members (2,10) to their initial positions, while the lever (3) is again returned by the film advancing mechanism.
