Abstract

1344326 Tapping apparatus A M OLUSANYA 24 April 1972 [6 July 1971] 31560/71 Heading C3E Apparatus for tapping sap from a palm tree comprises tubing reservoir 3, which is placed round the neck of the tree and fastened by connecting means 1 and 2. Branch conduits 4 contain tapping capsules 5, comprising a spring 9 and a glass wool wick 8. The free end of each of conduits 4 is inserted into a hole drilled in a leafstalk. The sap flows down into reservoir 3 and discharge tube 6 which is coiled round the tree to a collecting receptacle. T-shaped pieces may connect the branch conduits and discharge tube to reservoir 3.
