Abstract

1343563 Electronic flash control circuits HONEYWELL Inc 4 April 1972 [15 April 1971] 15277/72 Heading G2A A flash photographic system has a quench triggering circuit comprising a light integrating circuit R8, C7, a threshold circuit including a reactance C6 which is charged to generate a rising threshold signal, a comparison circuit which generates a quench signal when the signal from the light integrating circuit exceeds the threshold signal, wherein, to prevent the threshold signal falling as the supply voltage falls, the reactance is charged via a non-linear circuit which provides regulated charging and a voltage responsive circuit for reducing the effect of changes in supply voltage on the magnitude of the threshold signal. Switch S1 is closed upon the opening of the camera shutter, and this initiates a flash, Fig.1B. The reflected light is incident upon LASCRI and a current representative of the amount of light flows through its gate terminal to charge C7. Eventually the voltage on C7 exceeds that on C6, the thyristor LASCRI fires, the voltage between terminals 12, 13 drops to near zero and the flash is terminated. Reactance C6 is charged via a transistor Q 3 which is turned on via zener diode ZD3 when the flash is initiated. If supply voltage across terminals 12, 13 decreases then transistor Q 3 will be cut-off, and the voltage on C6 will charge towards the decaying anode voltage of LASCRI, preventing the generation of a false quench trigger signal. The accuracy of the circuit is enhanced by the inclusion of a temperative responsive resistor R9.
