Abstract
1343383 Telegraphy; isolating arrangements ITT CREED Ltd 20 July 1972 34011/72 Heading H4P An arrangement to electrically isolate a line 1, 2 from telegraphic apparatus has a light emitting element 26 coupled thereto in optical relation to a sensitive element, not shown, connected to the apparatus. Components 10, 13, 14 provide a supply to a comparator 17 receiving a stabilized potential from point 22 and a potential proportional to the line from point 21 hence at a determined relation a transistor 23 conducts and discharges a capacitor 24 through the light emitting diode 26 and current limiting resistor 25. Zener diode 16 may be replaced by a resistor equal to 15 so that the reference voltage is always half maximum signal level; a separate supply circuit may be alternatively provided for the comparator 17. In Fig. 3 (not shown) an additional and identical but reversely connected circuit provides operation on both directions of line current. In a further arrangement (Fig. 4, not shown) comparator 17 is provided with an inverse output and an additional light emitter so that light flashes are given on both positive and negative transitions of signals.
