Abstract

1343169 Laminating method PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 24 Aug 1971 [26 Aug 1970] 39706/71 Heading B5N A method of adhering a web 31, e.g. of plastics material from above on to and at least partly around material in the form of a continuous strip or succession of strips, e.g. porous diaper pads 21, comprises moving the web with an upwardly facing surface 43 below adhesive deposition means 42, 44, depositing adhesive, e.g. in the form of lines 27, 28, 29 and 30 on to the or each edge area 24, 25 of the upwardly facing surface, turning the web over, contacting the now downwardly facing surface of the web with the upper surface of the strip material and folding the adhesive bearing edge area(s) of the web to the lower surface of the strip material. In the embodiment shown, two applicators 42 deposit adhesive lines 27 and 28, two applicators 44 deposit adhesive lines 29 and 30, the web passing around roller 33 and into contact with planar portion 36 of folding board 34 which folds the edge areas 24, 25 of the web in to the positions shown in Fig. 6, prior to passing the web beneath horizontal guide portion 39 of folding board 34 as shown in Fig. 7 to contact the lines of adhesive 29, 30 with a pad 21, lines of adhesive 27, 28 being brought into contact with the lower surface of the pad 21 during continued travel of the web and pad by the curled over side edges of the folding board 34 to produce the product shown in Fig. 11.
