Abstract
1343053 Ignition and control system MALONEY-CRAWFORD TANK CORP 24 May 1971 16615/71 Heading F4T An automatic fluid fuel burner ignition and control system comprises a burner having a spark ignition rod 28; a main fluid fuel supply to the burner via a main fluid fuel valve; a control fluid fuel supply to actuate the system; flame sensing means, to sense heat from the burner, connected to a (first) sensor valve interrupting the control fuel supply and normally closed under the condition of no heat from the burner, the opening of which sensor valve causes the main fluid fuel valve to open; means. such as a piezo-electric sparker 29 with an actuator 27, to create the spark using flow of the control fuel as a motive force, the exhaust of which control fuel enters the burner for ignition; and time delay valve means operable in the event of flame failure to delay passage of control fuel to the spark creation means. If temperature controller TC is demanding heat, conduits 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 supply control fuel from upstream of the sensor valve through a normally open (third) valve D to the spark creation means, to cause spark actuation, and to a normally closed (second) valve C used to control valve D, and through a (fourth) normally open valve F to the time delay means. When the flame sensor valve opens, control fuel is supplied via conduits 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42 and 44 to open the main fuel valve, close valve F, reset the time delay means, and via 3-way (seventh) shuttle valve B to close valve D and open valve C. If the sensor valve closes due to flame failure, conduit 56 provides communication via conduits 40 and 42 to valves C and D to maintain them respectively open and closed during the time delay until re-ignition. Details are given of the bellows-type flame sensor valve and the control fuel pressure operated time delay valve means.
