Abstract
1342926 Optical projection systems; ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORP 14 May 1971 [18 May 1970] 15056/71 Headings G2A and G2J In a photocopier, the optical projection system comprises a lens system 52 adjustably mounted to have its optical axis 92 perpendicular to object plane 16; a mirror system having two mirrors 72, 78 which are positioned with a preselected angle a there between before insertion into the photo-copier; means mounting the mirror system in the photo-copier so as to reflect the optical axis 92 to be normal to image plane 28; and said mounting means including means to move the mirror system parallel to the bisector 94 of the angle b between normals to the planes 16, 28 so as to correctly focus the image formed by the projection system. In use, mirror support casting 64 is placed in an optical jig and screws 82 are adjusted to give the desired angle a. The angle a is such that, on positioning the casting 64 on a primary support casting 36, screws 88 can angularly adjust the position of the mirror system to properly reflect the optical axis 92. Casting 36 also carries a lens plate 42, the position of which may be adjusted by screws 44 to accurately position the lens optical axis perpendicular to the plane 16. In order to obtain optimum image resolution, the screws 88 are used to adjust the casting 64 linearly along the bisector 94. If the magnification ratio is not important, no further adjustments are necessary. However, if a definite magnification ratio is required, the lens system 52 is moved along its optical axis 92, and the mirror system is then re-adjusted along the bisector 94.
