1342784 Air lift pump CREUSOT-LOIRE 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 20487/71 Heading F1R [Also in Division B1] Apparatus which produces a circulating flow of liquid by the introduction of gas or vapour, comprises a vertical walled tank having internal partitions spaced from the bottom thereof and means at the top of the tank for guiding streams of the liquid. The tank 1 of Fig. 1 is rectangular in horizontal cross-section and has planer partitions 3 between which are injectors 5 into which gas or vapour is introduced through pipes 7, Fig. 3, and exits through a perferate plate 8. Liquid rising between the partitions 3 due to a reduction in density is guided by gratings 12 at which it is degassed, and by guides 11, and returns to the injectors 5 directed by guides 22. In other embodiments the tank may be circular in horizontal section and contain either planer or cylindrical partitions between some of which planer partitions the injectors are placed so that the liquid ascends there between and descends between the partitions not provided with injectors. Some of the planer partitions may have an upper edge portion curved towards the exterior of the tank and a portion curved towards the interior, Fig. 4 (not shown), to direct liquid flows in opposite directions to promote homogeneity in the gas/liquid mixture.
