1341710 Polyurethane foams IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 May 1971 [19 June 1970] 29902/70 Heading C3R Polyether based polyurethane foams are prepared by a process in which a siloxane/ oxyalkylene copolymer is used as a surfactant and water is used as a blowing agent and includes the step in which an oxyethylene polymer at least 70% by weight of which consists of (C 2 H 4 O) units, is dissolved in the water in an amount of 0À5 to 50% by weight thereof. The oxyethylene polymer is suitably a polyethylene glycol or mono- and di-ethers thereof and preferably has a M.W. not greater than 2000. It is preferred to mix together the oxyethylene polymer, siloxane/oxyalkylene copolymer and water and to incorporate this mix in the reaction mixture at the water addition stage.
