Abstract

1340715 Egg trays GORDON MERRET & SON Ltd 23 June 1971 [29 June 1970] 29469/71 Heading B8P A nestable moulded egg tray comprises rows of hollow, convex protuberances 5, a depression for an egg being defined between each group of four protuberances, the tray material being such that' each egg is resiliently supported independently of its neighbours. The protuberances are connected by main ribs 13 and are each strengthened by a pair of ribs 28 provided above each main rib 13. Depressions 30, which may be flat or concave, increase the contact area between the protuberances 5 and an egg. Pimples 9 on the flat upper surfaces 8 of the protuberances 5 engage hollows 10 on the underside of the flow 7 of the depressions when two trays are oriented at 90 degrees to each other and stacked. Two side edges of the tray have cut-outs (24) to facilitate handling and the tray may be of plastics material 1 inch thick.
