Abstract

1340698 Photographic processes for producing positive dye images MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 11 Dec 1970 38609/70 Heading G2C Positive dye images are produced by imagewise exposing a light-sensitive material comprising polyvinyl p-azido benzoate, polyvinyl cinnamate, polyvinyl benzal acetophenone, polyvinyl azide or a polymer containing a coumarin group, the unexposed areas being partially cross-linked before, during and/or after such exposure, dyeing with a dye solution to which the exposed areas are impermeable and the unexposed areas are permeable but not soluble, and removing the dye from the cross-linked areas. Generally the material is partially cross-linked by uniform heating after exposure or by uniform exposure before imagewise exposure or both. The material may be imagewise exposed to U.V. light, visible light (if a sensitizer such as trinitrofluorenone is used) or electron-beams.
