1340584 Locating fuel can failures COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 22 Sept 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 44139/71 Heading G6C In a nuclear reactor fuel can failure detecting system, the gaseous fission products contained in the liquid coolant, flowing in the fuel channel containing a faulty element, are entrained by a neutral gas which transfers them to a collecting and detecting system. The tubes, 4, receive liquid coolant from the fuel assembly channels and fission product gas, from a faulty channel, is discharged into the associated box, 8. A neutral gas, argon, flows into 8 from the duct, 12, entrains the fission gas and transfers it via pipe, 14, to the collectors, 16, 18, and the collector main, 20. By a selective operation of the valves, 22, the defective core channel is isolated.
