Abstract

1340043 Silicone/rosin lather control compositions UNILEVER Ltd 11 May 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 8197/70 Heading C3T [Also in Divisions C4 and C5] A lather control product comprises, in particulate form, a homogeneous mixture of a lather control agent and an organic carrier which is insoluble in water and melts at 25-90‹ C. The control agents specified are silicones, and the carriers specified are rosins; preferably the weight ratio of carrier to control agent is 2-20 : 1; thorough mixing is aided by including a surface active agent, which may be formed in situ from the rosin by adding NaOH or KOH. The product is incorporated into detergent compositions in amounts giving 0À05- 1 wt. per cent of silicone in the composition. In Example 1 20 p.b.w. of liquid polydimethyl. siloxane are added with 4 p.b.w. of 50% aqueous NaOH to 80 p.b.w. of melted Chinese W.W. Gum rosin. The mixture is spray-cooled in a tower. In Examples 2 and 3 it is incorporated into detergent compositions in amounts of 2% and 1% by weight.
