Abstract
1339626 Treating granulated material H DENNERT and H V DENNERT 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 20205/71 Heading C1A [Also in Division B1] Granulated matter, e.g. granulated clay particles, is treated in a treatment chamber 12 having a conical lower portion converging towards an unobstructed combustion chamber 1 wherein a stream of gas in the combustion chamber 1 has imparted thereto a helical twisting motion and enters the treatment space with this twisting motion and comes there into contact with the granulated matter 14 to be treated. The air enters the jacket of the combustion chamber tangentially through pipe 15 from the outer wall 5 and fuel is atomized by nozzles 10 located at or near the bottom of the chamber 1. The combustion chamber I is formed with a double wall and the air flows through the walls in a helical path. The double walled jacket is subdivided by an intermediate wall 4 into two chambers joined by a turn around zone 6, the air flowing upwardly with a helical motion in the outer chamber and downwardly with helical motion in the inner chamber and then enters the combustion chamber 1 with a helical motion.
