Abstract
1339500 Control of two AC motors WERKZEUGMASCHINENKOMBINAT "7 OKTOBER" BERLIN VEB 7 April 1971 8966/71 Heading H2J A control circuit for a two speed drive, e.g. for driving a grinding and dressing wheel, comprises two three-phase squirrel cage motors, arranged for star-delta switching, which are coupled together mechanically with a transmission ratio different from 1, the non-driving motor at each speed running idle. The main motor 1 is used to accelerate the drive from rest up to a constant high speed. The auxiliary motor 2 is used to power the drive at a constant low speed, to oversynchronously brake the drive from the high speed to the low speed in star-connection, and, if the system is switched off, to brake the drive to rest from the high speed using reverse current braking. The switching of the various modes of operation is accomplished using a circuit employing relays (Fig. 2, not shown). Interlocking circuits are provided so that the main motor can only be switched on manually if the drive is stationary and so that the auxiliary motor can only become effective when the main motor is running in delta connection. The switching of each motor from star to delta connection may be effected using time-delay relays or revolution counting instruments which switch the connections when a constant speed has been reached.
