Abstract

1337825 Improving adhesion of photo-resist to copper support KALLE A G 9 June 1971 [11 June 1970] 19726/71 Heading G2C A process for producing a copying material comprises coating on a copper containing surface layer of a support a solution of a light sensitive composition and prior to or simultaneously with the application of this solution applying to the copper containing surface and drying a solution of tetramethylthiuram or of an organic compound containing at least one mercapto group or a tautomeric form of a mercapto group. Preferably the thiuram or mercapto compound are contained in the light-sensitive composition. The compounds used include mercapto substituted benzthiazoal, benzoxatole, benzimidazole, imidazole, thiadiazole, and tetrazole, and thiourea, N, N'-diphenyl thiourea and diphenylthiacarbazone. The light sensitive compositions include, as the lightsensitive compound, 1-[(4'- methylbenzene- 1'-sulphonyl)-imino] -2- (2", 5"-dimethylphenylamino-sulphonyl)- benzoquinone-(1,4)- diazide-(4), a mixed condensate of 4, 4'-bismethoxymethyl-diphenylether and 3-methoxydiphenylamine -4- diazonium sulphate, a diazo resin obtained from p-diazo-diphenylamine and formaldehyde, a condensate of paraformaldehyde and 3-methoxydiphenylamine -4- diazonium chloride, 4, 4'-diazidostilbene-disulphonic acid, ammonium bichromate, the reaction product of naphthaquinone - (1, 2) - diazide - (2) - 4- sulphochloride and 1-methyl-2- (2'-hydroxyphenyl)- benzimidazole, benzoquinone - (1,4) - diazide - (4) - 2-sulphonanilide, styryl-N-phenyl-nitrone,and monomers polymerisable on exposure to light e.g. a prepolymer from diallyl isophthalate or trimethylol ethane triacrylate. The compositions may also contain dyes and the binders used include styrene and vinyl polymers, novolak, polyamides, acrylic polymers, gelatine and gum arabic. The support may be a bi-metallic plate.
