Abstract
1337575 Aromatic sulphones, sulphoxides and sulphides RECKITT & COLMAN PRODUCTS Ltd 24 Nov 1971 [7 Dec 1970 (2)] 58065/70 and 58066/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] Compounds having anti-hypertensive and vasodilatory activity of the formula in which n is the integer 2, p is an integer 1 or 2, (R) n represents C 1-3 alkoxy groups, or (when attached to adjacent carbon atoms of the benzene ring) the group -O(CH 2 ) m O- where m is an integer 1, 2 or 3, R<SP>1</SP> represents a hydrogen atom or, when (R) n represents alkoxy groups, R<SP>1</SP> may also represent a C 1-3 alkoxy or alkyl group, R<SP>2</SP> represents a C 1-7 alkyl group, a C 3-5 alkenyl or alkynyl group or a C 2-3 hydroxyalkyl group, are prepared by oxidizing the corresponding thioethers.
