Abstract

1337260 Cinematographic apparatus AGFAGEVAERT AG 26 Nov 1970 56316/70 Heading G2E A cinÚ camera having an electric motor driven dissolve device is provided with means for maintaining the motor in its operative state during the fade-out and backward film transport stages of the dissolve operation. The camera shutter release is depressed at the beginning of the dissolve operation, and is locked in the depressed position until completion of backward film transport. Sequence of Operations. A main switch 34 is rotated to supply power to a motor 19, and a dissolve knob 35 is rotated to the position shown so as to switch on the dissolve device, thereby positioning a pawl 32 so as to engage the release 33 when the latter is depressed, and also bringing a gearwheel 11 into contact with a drive worm 37. The worm 37 is connected, via a sprocket 38, to a dog 39 which engages a take up core of a cassette in the camera, the cassette not having a film rewinding facility. A drive pawl 15 simultaneously engages section 2a of a cam 2, and a motor switch 18 is closed Fig. 2 (not shown), and a locking pawl 3 engages the dog 39. The release 33 is then depressed to initiate fade out, and locked as described above, thereby starting the motor 19 which then pushes film into the take-up portion of the cassette. The gear-wheel 11 is driven by the worm 37, thus the pawl 15 rotates the cam 2 anti-clockwise (as seen). A projection 2b of the cam closes a switch 21 to initiate stopping down of diaphragm 57, which is fully closed after the cam has rotated through 180 degrees. The projection 2b then moves pawl 41 to release a contact holder 24 which thus causes a reversing switch 29 to reverse to motor 19 so as to back wind the film, the diaphragm remaining closed. When the cam 2 has rotated through 360 degrees, the projection 2b opens the switch 18 to stop the motor 19, as shown. Shortly before the switch 18 is opened, the contact holder 24 is moved into the forward running position and is locked therein. For subsequent fade in, the dissolve knob 35 is rotated through 90 degrees, thereby freeing the release 33, andthe gear-wheel 11 is uncoupledfrom the worm. Depression of the release 33 then transports film forwards while the diaphragm 57 opens gradually. Various safety devices are provided. A lever 45 and pawl 46 ensure that the dissolve device cannot be switched off by movement of the pawl 32 freeing the release 33, until the backward film transport is terminated. A member 49 and lever 54 ensure that the diaphragm remains closed until the release 33 is pressed for a fade in operation. A locking lever 58 prevents the dissolve knob 35 from being rotated through 90 degrees for fade in if the main switch 34 is off. In a modification Figs. 4-11, (not shown) the dissolve device is arranged to receive cassettes with or without a re-winding facility. A second cinÚ camera Fig. 8 (not shown) for a cassette having a re-winding facility, is described. The rotary cam (79) is such that the fade-out and backward film transport are each effected while the cam rotates through 120 degrees.
