Abstract

1337114 Fishing rod attachments L G BRANCHETT 29 Sept 1971 [6 Oct 1970] 47386/70 Heading A1A A device for holding a portion of fishing line perpendicular to the axis of a fixed spool reel, to keep the line from slipping off the spool during the initial stages of casting, has a clip fixed onto the butt with wing nut 16. The clip is integrally formed with knuckles 5 which co-operate with tube 6 to form a hinge. Tube 6 acts as a bearing for rod 7, the end portion 8 of which is the retainer member. The other end of rod 7 has a knob 12, which can be adjusted to bring member 8 into a non-retaining position, shown dotted. A spring 14 may be used to urge the member 8 into either the retaining or the non-retaining position. The tube 6 may be adjusted axially by slackening the nut 16.
