Abstract
1337034 Floating toys E GOLDBACH 30 Nov 1971 [30 Sept 1971] 55621/71 Heading A6S A floating toy, e.g. in the form of a fish, comprises a clockwork, electric, &c. motor 1 driving through a shaft 2 and a crank 3 to a stiff wire, &c. 4 helically coiled through at least 180 degrees and so coacting with the body of the toy as to produce a serpentine or wraggling motion. As shown, upper and lower lengthwise ribs 6, 7 are connected by cross ribs 8..10 having slots 11 through which two helically coiled wire 4 slides: the frame thus formed is enclosed in an outer skin 5. In one modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the wire 4 is coiled through 270 degrees. In another modification, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the ribs are integral with the skin 5 and the wire 4 is coiled through 360 degrees; six cross-ribs are provided, and adjustable fins (16) on the motor housing with fins on the skin carry stability, &c. In another form, Fig. 5 (not shown), impressions (17) in the flexible skin leave thicker portions extending transversely across the body between them, to form the cross ribs.
