1336257 Vehicle transporters OVERLAND CONTRACTS (TRAILERS) Ltd 12 June 1972 [15 April 1971] 9461/71 Heading B7B A vehicle transporter comprises means for raising or lowering an upper deck 14 pivotally mounted at or adjacent its forward end for movement relative to an integral lower deck 5 with support means 25 for extending between the raised upper deck and the lower deck, the rearward edge of the lower deck extending beyond that of the raised upper deck. In a preferred embodiment the vehicle comprises a semi-trailer supported by retractable legs 7 when disconnected from a tractor. Stanchions 8 support the rear edge of a platform 9 having a coupling 11 mounted on its underside and support brackets 12 which pivotally support the upper deck 14. A pair of hydraulic rams 23 are mounted inboard of the stanchions 8 and extend between trunnion mountings 24 on the upper and lower decks. The support means 25 comprise elongate members which may be of adjustable length and are detachable from a spigot 26 and socket 27 on the upper and lower decks respectively for lowering of the upper deck. Due to the convergent rear ends of the upper and lower decks the lowered upper deck is substantially contiguous with the rear lower deck Fig. 2 and vehicles may be driven over the intersection on to or off the upper deck.
