Abstract

1336009 Play ball METTOY CO Ltd 1 Dec 1971 [1 Dec 1970] 57010/70 Heading A6D [Also in Division B5] A hollow inflatable playball comprises a substantially spherical shell formed of a material having at least 50% and preferably at least 90% by weight of ethylene vinyl acetate. The material may also contain polyethylene and about 3% by weight of flock material. The shell may have an outer cover of PVC the relative thicknesses being in the ratio 2:1 and an inflation valve may be fitted. In making such a ball the material is heated in a rotating mould until the material is fused, distributed within the mould and cured. If there is an outer cover of PVC this is formed first with a slightly smaller diameter than the finished ball and the shell material introduced therein and the shell formed as above. The material may be introduced into the mould through a vent hole.
