Abstract
1335931 Dibenzazepines CIBA-GEIGY AG 12 May 1971 [13 May 1970] 14406/71 Heading C2C Dibenzazepine derivatives (most of which are novel) of Formula I (in which R is H or CH 3 , X 1 is H, Cl or CF 3 and X 2 is H, or when X 1 is H, also Cl) are prepared by dehydrating and rearranging a compound of Formula IV accroding to Wagner-Meerwein, pref. by treating the compound IV with 70-90% sulphuric acid. The novel compounds are those in which R, X 1 and X 2 have the above meanings, except that they are not all simultaneously H. Compounds IV are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula II or a corresponding 10-methyl-acridinium compound, with acetaldehyde, to give a compound of Formula III and reducing this compound III. 3 - Chloro - 9 - methyl - acridine hydrobromide is prepared by reacting 3-chloro-5H-dibenz- [b,f]azepine with hydrobromic acid.
