Abstract

1335843 Cladding structures BRITISH STEEL CORP 4 May 1971 [5 May 1970] 21506/70 Heading E1W Roof or wall cladding comprises vertical framing members or astragals 1 of plastics coated steel, aluminium alloy or plastics each member 1 having a hollow open or closed section reinforcing crown portion 2 and a depending web 3 with upwardly directed rib flanges 4 defining lateral grooves 6 for the insertion of, glass or other material, cladding panels. The astragals 1 may be formed by composite sections riveted together. The rib flanges 4 also define with the web 3 internal drainage gutters 8 which in a roof construction discharge into a conventional gutter. The cladding panels may be buffed or overlapped and secured with S-clips concealed in the grooves 6. The internal gutters 8 may be coated with heat insulating polyurethane foam 4a and the astragals formed with a mounting shoe 10 as a continuation of the web 3 for fixing to a roof beam or wall plate.
