1335573 Selective printing ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORP 22 Dec 1970 [24 Dec 1969] 60924/70 Heading B6F [Also in Division G4] A data recording system comprises a data board 10 (Fig. 1) on which transaction data can be set up, and which is co-operable with a recording machine 52 (Fig. 4) for transfer of the data to print wheels 62 (a-e). Data board.-The data board 10 (Fig. 1) comprises a frame 11 including apertures 12, 14 for receiving respectively a credit card, and a station plate bearing fixed information. The data setting-up mechanism comprises slits 26 (a-e) aligned with slits 31 (a-e) in a retainer plate 30 and scales 50 on a face-plate; indicators 28 (a-e) are associated with the scales. Each indicator comprises a knob 40a (Fig. 3) constrained for movement relative to the associated scale by a depending stem (34a), (36a) (see Fig. 2, not reproduced) passing through the slits 26, 31 (Fig. 1). The stem carries a nylon roller (32a) (Fig. 2) that co-operates with any of depressions 44a (Fig. 3) in a spring urged detent 42a. Knob 40a may be replaced by a pitted projection (34<SP>1</SP>), (35) (see Fig. 8, not reproduced). Recording Machine.-The recording machine 52 (Fig. 4) comprises hand-set date wheels 76 and mechanically-set data wheels 62 (a-e). Each data wheel 62 (a-e) is interconnected through gearing (see Fig. 5, not reproduced) to an associated setting rack 56 (a-e) having an upturned end 58 (a-e) projecting through an associated slit 60 (a-e). There is a slidable printing platen 78. Operation.-For recording transactions in a store, each clerk is provided with a data board 10 (Fig. 1), the clerk and store being identified on the station plate located in aperture 14. A customer credit card is inserted in aperture 12, and a recept 22 mounted over the data board 10 by a spring clip 16. The transaction data is set up with the indicators 28 (a-e) in conjunction with the scales 50, indicator position being maintained by the spring-urged detents 42a (Fig. 3). The data board is then slid on to a central recording machine 52 (Fig. 4) until located by depending projections 84. Simultaneously the racks 56(a-e) and data wheels 62 (a-e) are set by co-operation between the upturned rack ends 58 (a-e) and the indicator stems (36a) (Fig. 2). The data wheels 62(a-e) and date 76 wheels project through apertures 18, 20 (Fig. 1) in the data board 10. The printing platen 78 (Fig. 4) is finally operated to print information from the credit card, station plate, data and date wheels on to the receipt 22.
