Abstract

1335406 Injury protecting device J STUARTUSHER 10 May 1972 [14 May 1971] 14900/71 Heading A3V [Also in Division A5] A fingerstall comprises a U-shaped one-piece member having a substantially rigid (relative to the sides) base 11, shaped to surround the injured end in a slightly spaced-apart relationship, and a pair of sides 12, 13 made of resilient material and shaped generally to conform to the shape of the injured digit or limb. The side 12, of the device is longer than the side 13, and the device may be immovably secured to the injured digit with an adhesive strip by sticking its full width to the free end of the longer side, but only one half of its width to the free end of the shorter side. The device may have perforations in the base and/or sides to permit circulation of air round the injured part. The device can be provided with two transverse slots enabling the lining of the interior of the base with surgical gauze and the firm anchoring in position of thet said gauze.
