Abstract
1335196 Rotary drum vacuum filter ISHIGAKI KIKO KK 1 Dec 1970 57115/70 Heading B1D An inward flow rotary drum vacuum filter intended to operate with a coating of diatomaceous earth filter aid on the drum periphery (Fig. 1, not shown) has a scraper blade 15 so mounted that as it advances towards the drum, so as to continuously pare off the surface layer of filter aid and cake, it is also reciprocated parallel to the drum axis, which leaves a smoother surface on the coating 14 than would mere radial advance. The blade 15 is supported by a pair of carriages 20, each mounted for axial sliding by a dovetail 20a in a block 18, which is similarly mounted for radial sliding on fixed frame 16. The two blocks 18 are advanced and retracted relative to the drum by respective screws 22, rotated by a common drive shaft 26 which is selectively connected through clutches to a low speed advancing drive at one end or a high speed retracting drive at the other (Fig. 2, not shown). One screw 22 supports an ecentrically bored cylinder 32, which slides axially thereon with corresponding block 18 and is keyed to rotate therewith. A ring 36a encircling cylinder 32 is connected to carriages 20 by rod 36 (Fig. 3 not shown) to reciprocate the carriages and blade axially when the block 18 is advanced or retracted.
