Abstract
1335041 Hydraulic motor control circuits SPERRY RAND Ltd 1 Jan 1971 [5 Jan 1970 6 Oct 1970] 406/70 and 47349/70 Heading F1P A hydraulic actuator 116 Fig.1 is connected at its opposite ends through a fluid-pressure operated main spool valve 80 to supply pressure Po at 102 and to a return tank at either 112 or 114, the control chambers 98, 100 of valve 80 being connected through a pilot spool valve 42 when in its left hand position shown to a chambers 26, 28 of a pilot spool valve 12 which is positioned a distance x 1 from the position shown by an electric motor 10 which exerts a force F1 on the valve spool 18 dependant on an electric signal which is proportional to the desired velocity Vo of the actuator and acting against a force F F exerted in a feedback chamber 14 connected to a flow sensor 122 which produces a pressure P c1 in line 136 dependant on the flow-rate to the actuator. In operation and when the actuator reaches the desired velocity Vo the feedback Pressure P c1 suffices to return in part spool 18 to near its control position whereon the control pressure in chamber 98 of the main valve is reduced. The main valve is thus returned to its near control position in which it acts as a throttle valve. The second pilot spool valve 42 Fig.2 and a pressure sensing shuttle valve 140 serve to control the pressure of fluid applied to the actuator 116 in response to an electric signal proportional to the desired pressure and applied to a spool-actuating electric motor 40. In operation and with actuator 116 initially moving outwardly at Vo and with electric motor 10 holding valve spool 18 in the right hand position shown so that valve 12 acts merely as a directional control valve, an electric signal proportional to the required load pressure drop across the actuator is sent to motor 40, spool 48 moves a distance X2 to the left whereby operating pressure Ps is fed to control chamber 100 of a main valve 80 which is displaced a distance xo. In a modification the main control valve (280) Fig.8 (not shown) has auxiliary parts (147) which are isolated from one another when the valve spool (282) is in neutral and the actuator (316) is thus hydraulically locked but are inter-connected when the spool (282) is moved so as to connect with feedback line of the pressure sensor (340).
