Abstract
1335010 Grinding WERKZEUGMASCHINENKOMBINAT 7 OKTOBER BERLIN VEB 10 April 1972 16409/72 Heading B3D A method of reducing the influence of undesired vibrations on the quality of a workpiece 1 during cylindrical grinding comprises, shortly before the end of the machining cycle, triggering a signal so that the rotary speed of the workpiece undergoes acceleration and this acceleration is only switched off after the required dimension is reached. In apparatus for carrying out the method, the grinding wheel 4 is mounted on a spindle 5 and the workpiece 1 is mounted on a spindle 2 driven by a D.C. motor 3. A gauge 6 continuously monitors the workpiece and is connected to a control unit 7 whereby, immediately after a predetermined size of the workpiece is reached and preferably during sparkout, the unit actuates a system 11 to accelerate the motor 3 until the final dimension is reached.
