Abstract

1334649 Television STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 8 March 1972 10787/72 Heading H4F A low light television system includes a television camera optically coupled to the output of an image intensifier, the image intensifier being powered via a rectifying voltage multiplier from the output of an oscillator, Fig. 2d. The oscillator is powered by a signal from a monostable, Fig. 2b, triggered prior to the initiation of the vertical blanking pulse, Fig. 2c, to allow for delay due to the turn on period of the oscillator. Field frequency pulses, Fig. 2a, are produced by frequency-dividing in four divide-byfive stages, the output of a 31,250 Hz oscillator, the leading edge 21 of each pulse triggering the monostable to produce the signal of Fig. 2b and the trailing edge initiating the vertical blanking pulse, Fig. 2c. The oscillator controlling the image intensifier is fed from the monostable via a current limiting circuit which provides a form of automatic brightness control for the image intensifier.
