Abstract

1334110 Manhole covers SELFLOCK Ltd 16 Feb 1972 [10 Nov 1971] 52270/71 Heading E1G In a manhole or inspection cover and frame assembly at least one pair of corresponding sides of the cover 1 and frame 10 are of identical angle section (e.g. from the same stock), one limb of the angle section having at least one undulation 5, 15. The rectangular cover described comprises an opposed pair of mild steel angle section boundary walls 2 secured - e.g. welded - to two opposed flat walls 6. The space within the cover walls may be filled with reinforcing bars, concrete or tiles. Alternatively the angle section may be of cast iron or plastics. As shown the angle section walls 2, 12 of the cover and frame are mutually reversed, a sealing strip 17 being bonded to the frame.
