Abstract

1333930 Dyeing synthetic fibres with AQ dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 10 Nov 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 58276/70 Heading D1B Synthetic textile materials e.g. polyamides, cellulose triacetate and aromatic polyesters are dyed with a solution or dispersion of a waterinsoluble anthraquinone dye of formula I: in which Z and Z' are each independantly -O- or -S-, A is an alkylene radical of 2 to 6 carbon atoms which can be substituted by chlorine, bromine or hydroxy group, A is an alkylene radical of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, n is 1 or 2, in a halogenated hydrocarbon in the presence of from 0.2% to 5% of water based on the volume of the halogenated hydrocarbon at a temperature, above the boiling point of the azeotrope and at a pressure above atmospheric pressure. Preferably 0.2 to 5% of water based on the volume of the halogenated hydrocarbon is used the preferred halogenated hydrocarbon being perchloroethylene, deflocculating and emulsifying agents being optional additives.
