Abstract
133,279. Harvey, S. T. June 6, 1919. Moving and changing apparatus.-Relates to advertising-devices of the class wherein a series of slidable panels carrying advertisements are laterally movable in front of and behind a series of fixed advertisements, whereby periodic exposure of the fixed and movable advertisements is successively effected. Fig. 1 shows a front view and Fig. 2 a cross-sectional plan of the device, in which panels 8 slide between two stationary rear surfaces 11 and a stationary front surface 7. The panels 8 are of such a length as to be half hidden by the surface 7, and are mounted on wheels which ride on rails located in grooves in the cross-members 5, 4 of the frame, the tops of the panels being also guided in grooves. The panels are moved from side to side of the frame in turn, to expose the advertisement on the surface 11 previously hidden by the panel, and that on the panel previously hidden by the surface 7. The mechanism for effecting the movement comprises a motor which drives a flexible member 12, e.g. a chain, carrying a pin 27 which engages a forked projection on each of the panels. The chain passes round sheaves arranged so that, after taking one panel to its required position, the pin 27 moves to engage the neighbouring panel and to convey it in the opposite direction, and so on. The device may be double-faced, the same mechanism operating both sides.
