1332718 Purifying aprotic solvents NATIONAL PATENT DEVELOPMENT CORP 22 Sept 1971 44208/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] The invention comprises a process for removing compounds having available protons from aprotic solvents,.e.g. acyclic or cyclic ethers or tert. amines or mixtures thereof by contacting the solvent with a hydride NaAlH(OR) 3 or NaAlH 2 (OR) 2 , where R is R<SP>1</SP>O(CH 2 ) n - (R<SP>1</SP> being C 1-4 alkyl or A(CH 2 ) n -, n being 2, 3 or 4 and A being CH 3 O-, C 2 H 5 O-, 2-furyl- CH 2 O-, (CH 3 ) 2 N-, (C 2 H 5 ) 2 N- or 2-pyranyl-CH 2 O-); or R is R<SP>1</SP>O(CH 2 ) n -O- (CH 2 ) m - (R<SP>1</SP> being C 1-4 alkyl and m and n being 2, 3 or 4); or R is R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>11</SP>N(CH 2 ) n - (R<SP>1</SP> being C 1-4 alkyl, R<SP>11</SP> being C 1-4 alkyl and n being 2, 3 or 4); or R is 2-furyl-CH 2 - or 2-pyranyl-CH 2 -.
