Abstract

1332307 Electroless deposition of copper MARCONI CO Ltd 15 Dec 1970 [17 Jan 1970] 2377/70 Heading C7F An electroless Cu plating solution giving a bright deposit contains one or more ethers of the formula HO - (CH 2 ) n - O - (CH 2 ) m - OH or polyhydric phenols or derivatives of these one of the derivatives may be the condensation polymers of a polyhydric phenol with an aldehyde e.g. condensation between phlonoglucinal and formaldehyde in the presence of NaOH. The preferred ether is diethylene glycol or "digol" and the phenol may be phlonoglucinal. Preferably 10-300 ccs/1 of "digol" or 1-20 g/l phlonoglucinal are added to a CuSO 4 - formaldehyde - Rochelle salt - NaOH - triethanulamine solution. Stabilizers e.g. iodates, bromates, chlorates, arsenates or phosphates may also be added.
