Abstract

1332239 Tape reeling ING C OLIVETTI & C SpA 19 Jan 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 2623/71 Heading G5R In a device for unwinding a reel of punched tape, a reservoir of tape is created to reduce the chances of tape breakage. The reel 2 is mounted around a hub 5 fixed to a turntable 1 and the tape 32 is withdrawn from the centre of the reel via a tapering guide surface 11 of the hub. The hub 5 comprises an annular recess 10 and a cylindrical part 9 which projects only slightly above the turntable 1, and the arrangement ensures that during the withdrawal, the innermost turns of the tape are stored in a relatively free state in the hub recess 10. The turntable and hub are mounted on a pivoted lever 4 for movement between a reel loading position (as dotted in Fig 2, not shown) and a reel operating position (as in Fig. 1), and a spring loaded mechanism including a lever 19, two latching arms (21, 22) and a pin 24 is used to locate the lever 4 in the above mentioned positions.
