Abstract

1332235 Endlass conveyers DANIEL FOXWELL & SON Ltd 30 Dec 1971 [18 Jan 1971] 2339/71 Heading B8A An arrangement for tracking a conveyer belt 11 comprises, at each side of the belt, a unit 13 or 14 having rollers 20, 21 which if the belt tracks correctly, do not engage the belt. The shaft of the upper roller 20 is adjustably secured on a pillar 16 which also supports the lower roller 21 by a pivotable yoke 22. A pneumatic device 26 includes a plunger 23 which adjusts the horizontal position of the roller 21, the device having a valve (39-41, Fig. 3, not shown) for control by a sensor arm 49 provided on the unit 13 or 14 at the opposite edge of the belt 11. If the belt deviates from its proper path the corresponding arm 49 is deflected, the pneumatic device 26 of the other tracking unit is energized and the edge of the belt at that side is gripped between the raised roller 21 and the roller 20; tracking of the belt is thus corrected. The rollers 20 are metal and smooth-surfaced but they may be resiliently surfaced as are the rollers 21. The upper rollers may be raisable and lowerable to correct the tracking.
