Helmets; accessories.-A mask and ecreen for protecting the eyes, face, and clothing of electric welding operators and others from light, heat, and sparks comprises a padded frontal piece A, attached to the head by adjustable straps a<5>, a<6>, a<7> and provided with a box-like extension a<9> fitted with a hinged glazed window a<8> for the eyes, a bib or screen a<13>, a<14> of nin-inflammable fabric being detachably secured to a support a<1>, which is hinged at a<2>, so that the bib may be lowered away from the mouth and nose of the wearer when not required. The frontal piece A is formed with ear-guards a<3> open at the back, and a nose-guard a<4> open at the bottom. The glazed window a<8> hinged at the bottom, is held in the raised or operative position by a spring catch a<10>, and is fitted with slides to receive glass screens a<11>, ot which the inner ones are coloured to protect the eyes, and the outer ones are of plain glass readily replaceable when damaged by sparks &c.
