Abstract
133,161. Jacks, T. Oct. 4, 1918. Fixing by sockets with securing-devices. - Relates to broom-handle-fixing devices of the kind in which a split socket adapted to be secured to the broom handle is provided with an aperture for the passage of the usual nail or screw for securing the handle to the broom head, and consists in forming the aperture by a number of cross slits so as to allow the nail or screw to pass through at various points. In one form, Fig. 1, the socket comprises a split member a with a perforated lug a<2> to secure it to the broom handle and a star-shaped aperture formed by a number of cross slits b. The member a may be provided with a central depending extension adapted to be bent to form a bottom a<12>, Fig. 4, and vertical flange a<5>. Tongues may be cut and bent out of this extension to penetrate the broom head. Fig. 6 shows a socket in which the slits b are provided in a socket having three lugs a' with screwthreads a<11> by which the socket is screwed into the hole in the broom head
