Abstract

1331249 Dentifrice preparations COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 18 Feb 1972 [29 Dec 1970] 61614/70 Heading A5B Dentifrice preparations, stable upon prolonged ageing, comprise a water-soluble monofluorophate and a compatible polishing material all or a major part of which is a dimagnesium orthophosphate, preferably the trihydrate or heptahydrate. The monofluorophosphate may be an alkali metal (such as sodium), calcium, magnesium or aluminium salt; or a monofluoropolyphosphate such as Na 4 P 3 O 9 F, K 4 P 3 O 9 F, (NH 4 ) 4 P 3 O 9 F, Na 3 P 3 O 9 F, (NH 4 ) 3 NaP 3 O 9 F or Li 4 P 3 O 9 F. The polishing material may comprise a minor amount of an additional polishing agent such as calcium carbonate, (e.g. natural chalk and precipitated calcium carbonate), and/or magnesium carbonate; hydrated alumina, calcium pyrophosphate, tricalcium phosphate, and/or calcium polymetaphosphate. The preparations may also contain surface active agents (such as sodium N-lauroyl sarcosinate), gums, water, humectant (e.g. glycerine and sorbitol) gelling agents (e.g. sodium carboxymethyl cellulose), hydrated aluminium oxide, pH adjusters, calcium and magnesium ion suppression agents, colouring or whitening agents or dyestuffs, preservatives, silicones, chlorophyll compounds, ammoniated materials (such as urea and/or diammonium phosphate), and/or antibacterial agents. The preparations may be in the form of toothpastes, dental creams, tooth powders, liquid dentifrices and tablets.
