Abstract
1331174 Water soluble monoazo dyes FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 8 Dec 1971 [11 Dec 1970] 57070/71 Heading C4P The invention comprises water-soluble monoazo dyestuffs of formula wherein X represents H or an alkali metal atom; Y represents H, C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy; Z represents C 1 -C 4 alkyl and n represents the number 1 or 2 and in which the ring A may be substituted by one or more CH 3 groups or halogen atoms. The dyes may be obtained by diazotizing an aromatic amine of formula where N is -CH 2 -CH 2 -S-SO 3 X, -CH=CH 2 , or -CH 2 -CH 2 -T (where T is an organic or inorganic radical which can be split off by an alkali) and coupling it with a pyrazole of formula W is -CH=CH 2 , the obtained dye is reacted with a salt of thiosulphuric acid at 15-120‹ C. at a pH of 3-8. If W is CH 2 -CH 2 -T, the dye is reacted with an alkali to give a dye containing a vinyl radical which is then converted to a radical -CH 2 -CH 2 SSO 3 X by the above procedure. The dyes give yellow and orange shades on leather, natural and regenerated cellulose fibres and on nitrogen-containing fibres of animal or synthetic origin e.g. wool, silk, synthetic polyamides and polyurethanes.
