1331059 Pyrimidotriazinone compounds LILLY INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [11 March 1970] 11577/70 Heading C2C Novel pyrimidotriazinone compounds of the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl or -CH 2 Ar in which Ar is phenyl optionally substituted by halogen, nitro, C 1-5 alkyl or C 1-5 alkoxy; R<SP>2</SP> is hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl or Ar as above, the two R<SP>2</SP> groups being the same or different; R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen or C 1-5 alkyl; and R<SP>4</SP> is hydrogen or COR<SP>5</SP>, in which R<SP>5</SP> is C 1-5 alkoxy, C 1-5 alkylamino or NHN(R<SP>1</SP>) 2 , in which R<SP>1</SP> is as above and the two R<SP>1</SP> groups are the same or different may be prepared by reacting a thiazolo- or oxazolo pyrimidinone II: wherein X is sulphur or oxygen, with a hydrazino compound H 2 N.NHR<SP>1</SP> in a suitable solvent and optionally during or after modifying the groups R<SP>1</SP> and/or R<SP>4</SP>. The intermediate II in which X is oxygen and R 4 is ethoxycarbonyl may be formed by reacting a 2-amino-oxazole with ethoxyl methylene malonic acid, diethyl ester. Pharmaceutical compositions of the compounds I show anthelmintic activity when administered orally, parenterally, topically or as a feed premix with diluents or carriers. The compounds I also show anti-fungal activity in plants.
