Thus if a 50 unit coin is inserted into a coin shoot (20) (Fig. 3, not shown) a contact (19) causes unit E 0 , 50 to energize the adjacent memory which is S 6 in the position shown and a relay (M) to energize the motor (18); the relay also closes self holding contacts (m) which are interrupted as the memory S 6 reaches the datum position where its detected and then erased by a pick-up 17; the wheel has thus rotated to indicate an increase of 50 units in the credit. By reversing the motor the credit is reduced. With several number wheels (Fig. 1, not shown) each may be driven as above, accommodating large denomination coins, or alternatively only the lowest denomination wheel is driven by the motor and the other wheels by suitable transfer mechanism.
